Horacio Moura

Third-generation coffee producer focused on quality, consistency, and origin expression through high-altitude cultivation in Caparaó.

About the Farm

Sítio Três Barras is located in Simonésia, in the Matas de Minas region of Brazil, an area increasingly recognized for the production of specialty coffees. The farm sits in a mountainous landscape with favorable conditions for cultivating high-quality arabica coffee.

The property has been managed by the family for six generations, evolving from traditional coffee farming into a more structured and quality-focused specialty coffee operation..

Production Approach

Production at Sítio Três Barras combines inherited farming practices with modern post-harvest techniques. The farm works with careful cherry selection and controlled drying methods, using infrastructure such as patios and raised beds to ensure consistency and quality.

The focus is on producing well-structured coffees that reflect both the environment and the producer’s technical approach, maintaining balance, clarity, and reliability across different lots.

Background

Horácio de Moura manages the farm together with his father, Vicente Jacinto, continuing a family legacy that began with their ancestor Luiz Amorim, who first cultivated coffee on the land.

In earlier generations, the farm worked with traditional varieties such as Moca, planted on higher elevations. Since 2003, the family has focused on specialty coffee production, continuously improving quality standards and refining their processes.

The first specialty coffee produced on the farm received a score of 86 points from the Matas de Minas Specialty Coffee Producers Association, marking a key milestone in their transition toward specialty coffee.
